Joyeux Noël!

Today we learned how to say Merry Christmas in different languages. We can say Merry Christmas in 7 different ways!
Joyeux Noël
Frohe Weinachten
Feliz Navidad
God Jul
Buon Natale
Merry Christmas
and
Also on the subject of Christmas, in your child's sac bleu tonight you should find an invitation to our Fete de Noel. It will be on Tuesday, December 20th, from 1:00 - 2:15pm. Hope to see you there.

C'est moi l'espion

Here is our latest Photostory of a class book. We looked at C'est moi l'espion books in French and noticed the patterns in how each page started. This was also great vocabulary practice, there are lots of MIMI words in our writing.
Good luck looking for all the items! Enjoy!

Christmas Madlibs

Today at the end of the day for a bit of Christmas fun, we worked together to create a funny Christmas story. Enjoy!

Students love creating these! I am including a link to a website where you can do them at home. These are great for discussing parts of speech (verb, noun, adjective, etc).

I apologize that I forgot to send home Home Reading books today. They will go home tomorrow and when they are collected on Friday they will not go home again until January.

Finally, I have been hearing that students are planning on being away during these last few weeks of school. If you could please let the office or myself know of any planned absenses it would be greatly appreciated.

What a day!

We had a very busy day today! We looked at messages written in Braille and read them. We each got a chance to write our name on the Brailler. We also went to Santa's Workshop.
Our names in Braille.

There was a present that went missing this afternoon. If everyone could please check at home for presents that don't belong it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Also, we will be going to the library tomorrow as it was closed today for Santa's Workshop.

Reminder that tomorrow is Crazy Hair Day and hot lunch.

Now that we are into December, we are going to be talking about Christmas words and doing Christmas related stations and activities to practice our new words. This morning we did several little Christmas crafts. Here are some pictures of our work.

Out of Darkness

Yesterday we finished reading Out of Darkness, the story of Louis Braille's life and accomplishments. Today, we looked at some books with Braille, a Brailler and some tools used by those who are visually impaired.

A French book with Braille pages. The animals have fabric added to make it interesting to feel.

The copy of the Mouse and the Motorcycle that we read, and the same book in Braille. It takes 2 volumes! Braille takes up more space, and it can only be printed on one side of the page.

A geography book. The map of Canada is raised on the plastic page to the outline of the country can be felt.

A Perkins Brailler. Mme is going to try to figure out how to use it so we can write our names in Braille to take home. Each of the three keys on either side of the middle key makes one of the 6 dots in the Braille cell. To make a character with all six dots, you press down all six keys at once.
A guide for writing a signature on a cheque and a Braille ruler.

Hot Lunch Orders and Home Reading Books

Just a reminder that Hot lunch orders are due tomorrow, Friday, December 2nd.
Also, please send Home Reading Books tomorrow to be changed.
