Last week of school!

Just a few notes for this last week of school:

Please send back any home reading books, library books, class books or games, and sac bleus that may be at home. The sac bleus will stay at school tomorrow.

Mme W would like to re-invite parents to come to watch the grade 2's do their piece de theatre - La petite poule rousse. It will be on Wednesday from 1:35pm-2:15pm in the library.

I have put together my reading list for the summer, and I have also put up a few links for a place to start for some really good books for your own reading challenges. Check it out at http://mmessummerbookadaychallenge.blogspot.ca/

Thanks!

Thursday, June 22nd

We had a great day today! We practised our summer vocabulary and went to music class. Before lunch we did some experiments with liquids and solids - we mixed two liquids and made a non-Newtonian fluid (not exactly a liquid and also not exactly a solid). All students promised today to only play with it at the kitchen table when it went home.
This afternoon we watched L'Ile de Nim with our stuffies and had popcorn.
Also, tree seedings were sent home today.

Tomorrow we will have our last dictee of 2e annee. Also, please send all Home Reading Books back.

Les bonnes nouvelles!

M. et Mme Patate are all put back together, thanks to the awesome Grade 2 students who have worked very hard to practice speaking in French.
To celebrate, we will be having a special day on Thursday. Students are welcome to wear pyjamas, slippers and bring a stuffy (if they wish). We will be having popcorn and watching a movie after lunch.

L'eau et les plantes

We have been talking and working with air and water at school over the past little while, and on Monday, we started an experiment to see if we could prove that plants do drink water and need it to survive. We used white plants and food coloured water to see what would happen. We also put some flowers in a cup without water and others in a cup with uncoloured water to compare and look for differences. We write our observations each day in our booklet. I thought I should upload some pictures to share our results thus far. We plan on continuing until Tuesday. Enjoy!

Jour #1 - Stem is cut into two and put in two different colours of water.

Jour #1 - single coloured water

Jour #1 - Water and no water

Jour #2 No water and water

Jour #2 - Flower in coloured water

Jour #4 - Flower in coloured water

Jour #4 - Flower in coloured water

Jour #4 - No water and water

Just a few things...
